“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

Over the past few weeks, we've been so excited learning about Stephen Covey's first habit to be proactive. To be proactive means taking control of your actions and reactions. It's having a positive "can do" attitude. It's believing that you are in charge of you and you can make positive choices in life. We learned that it is about taking the time to stop and think before you act. A proactive person uses proactive language. For example, you should use phrases like " I can", "I prefer", " I choose to" . On the other hand a reactive person says things like " I have to" or "If only". They think other people influence their choices and they are not responsible for themselves. Over the past few weeks we learned that you should focus on the things you can control in your life. For Example, we talked about whether a person has control over the weather. We all knew we couldn't control the weather but we can have an umbrella with us if it is raining. This habit really helps us be prepared and focus on the positive.
How Can I You Be Proactive In Your Own Life?
-Take responsibility for your actions
-Don't let other people influence you in a bad way. -if a friend is making a bad choice, don't follow their example
-Use positive language- try avoiding phrases like "I can't" or "I won't"
-Make your own fun.-don't wait for other students to approach you on the playground, create a new game or join in a new group
